Many Muslim girls are quietly walking away from sports. Not for lack of talent or drive, but because their options shrink once they hit puberty. If they choose to play, they often join a secular girls team where Islam may only be considered if they put in a special request.
When spaces solely for Muslimah youth to explore their athletic interests after puberty seem non-existent, many youth are left sitting on the sidelines. This is due to parents not settling for uniforms that ignore modesty and the absence of an organization that reminds their daughter of Islam. Some girls are still hoping to play one day, while others have given up on the idea of continuing competitive sports.
InshaAllah, with the permission of Allah SWT, Modest Strides is working to bridge the gap for Muslim girls in sports.
Why Choose Modest Strides?
Islamic Foundation
Every aspect of our program is designed with Muslim girls in mind. Parents can trust that their daughters are engaging in an environment that respects their religious practice rather than requiring them to navigate around it.
Holistic Development
Our athletic programs introduce fundamentals and technical skills with an emphasis on peer mentorship. Muslimahs develop not just as athletes, but as teammates who learn to support one another on and off the field.
Character Building
Sports are a vehicle for character formation. We intentionally integrate Islam into every aspect, such as sportsmanship, humility, and perseverance, during every practice and game.
Community Connection
We cultivate a network of families who share common values and aspirations for their daughters. These relationships often extend beyond the season, strengthening the broader community.
